Bigfoot releasing ultra-fast Killer 2100 PC gaming network card

Bigfoot Networks has announced the imminent release of their next-generation PC gaming network card, the Killer 2100, which promises up to 10x the performance of standard network cards for faster, lag-free gaming.

The Bigfoot Killer 2100 is a Gigbit NIC (Network Interface Card) designed to optimize network traffic to produce better, faster, lag-free connections for online gaming. The Killer 2100 uses is powered by a dedicated network processor (NPU), Advanced 'Game Detect' technology, Windows stack bypass, Visual Bandwidth Control, and other optimizations designed to Follow PCGame Examiner on Twitteraccelerate latency-sensitive game traffic while reducing stuttering, freezing and other symptoms of lag. The Killer 2100 is also designed to improve often used technologies like in-game voice chat.

According to Bigfoot's press release, tests using the Gaming Network Efficiency test (a new benchmark that measures network latency during gaming scenarios), demonstrated that the Killer 2100 was more than ten times faster than standard network interfaces running on multicore gaming PCs with high-end graphics cards.

The Killer 2100 is designed to be simple to install and configure, but it also offers plenty of customization options for gamers that like to get 'under the hood' in their PCs. For enthusiasts, the Killer 2100 comes with a variety of tools for monitoring and optimizing network performance. For example:

  • Visual Bandwidth Control provides real-time feedback about how Internet bandwidth is used on a per-application basis, making it easy for gamers to limit or block network-hungry applications.
  • Online Gaming PC Monitor feature gives players at-a-glance graphical displays and detailed logging so that they can track performance statistics such as CPU usage, memory usage and frame rate along with networking activity.
