A new electronic reading application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that enables readers to build a library of conveniently available writings includes an exclusive "No Meat Monday" essay written by Sir Paul McCartney.
Ether Books mobile iPhone app, launched last week at the London International Bookfair, features a collection of works by authors including Bram Stoker, Jack London, H.G. Wells, Henry James and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The app offers short stories, essays and poetry by new and established writers.
The company says the app will enable mobile users to connect to their favorite authors. "In the same way that iTunes allows music fans to create a personal song collection, Ether Books enables readers to browse, buy and build a personal library on the move," the announcement of the app states.
The app lets users search by genre or author, read a story synopsis, scan the first page as well as linking to author websites, Twitter and Facebook pages, according to the announcement.
The app is available free through the Apple iTunes store.
