Snow shovel time!
The town of Parker is known for great customer service. During the snowy season, Parker works hard to ensure public safety and convenience while providing snow removal services.
The Parker Public Works Department has a snow removal policy in place. Residents should be aware of the following priorities.
- Heavily traveled arterial roadways are the top priority. These include Mainstreet, Stroh Road, 20 Mile Road, Hess Road, Cottonwood Drive, Lincoln Avenuce, Canterberry Parkway, Pine Drive, Jordan Road, and Hilltop Road.
- Collector streets are the second priority. These provide access to arterial roadways and include Pine Lane, Tallman, Canterberry Trail, Crown Crest Boulevard, Dransfeldt, Motsenbocker, Riva Ridge, J. Morgan, Clark Farms Drive, and Bradbury Parkway.
- School bus routes not falling under the second priority are third on the list, and will be plowed once snow has accumulated to three inches.
Once snow has accumulated to 10 inches, Parker Public Works will plow residential streets and cul-de-sacs. Parker relies on reports from the National Weather Service to determine snow depths.
Parker residents can take several steps to help equipment operators work faster and more efficiently.
- Do not shovel snow into the street, but rather on to the lawn. This will minimize the amount of snow that plows naturally throw back into the driveway.
- If possible, park off the street to avoid being buried in snow and to give Parker plow drivers more room to remove snow.
- Slow down and use caution when driving near snow plows. Equipment operators may not always easily see other vehicles.
- When possible, do not drive in particularly heavy snow storms. Fewer cars on the road mean fewer stranded motorists and faster snow removal.
