Parker, CO is considered a safe community to live in with one of the lowest crime rates reported in the state. With public safety in mind, the Parker Police Department has teamed with several other law enforcement agencies to create an online resource listing registered sex offenders living in each jurisdiction.
The Unified Sex Offender Registry is based on public record and contains names of offenders who are required by law to register their addresses. Parker residents are able to access this website to search for sex offenders living within a certain distance from a specific address.
Participating law enforcement agencies stress that sex offender information is provided to the public with the idea that “education creates prevention”. Parker citizens are encouraged to use this information to make informed decisions for their families.
This information “is not provided for any type of individual retribution, retaliation, discrimination, harassment or additional punishment against any person convicted of unlawful sexual behavior or of another offense with the underlying factual basis involving sexual behavior.” Police will pursue legal action against anyone misusing sex offender registry information.
In addition to the search feature, the Unified Sex Offender Registry provides a way for citizens to be alerted by email when a registered sex offender moves into their area. The site requires residents to create an account and sign up for this service.
Some sex offenders are not required to register. For a complete list of sex offenders residing in Parker, citizens must request one during business hours at the Parker Police Department located at 19600 E. Parker Square Drive, Parker, Colorado 80134.

Very well written and informative article. I am so pleased to read that Parker has this tool available to them. A nice small town is not exempt from these types of predators. We want to keep our young people safe.
It's great the police department offers this information to anyone who wants to access it.
