Teens revenge for parents joining Facebook

One of the most frequently reported on topics in technology news during the past year is the rise in baby boomers joining Facebook. Much to the angst of many teens, adults 50 and older is the fastest growing demographic on Facebook. But watch out parents. A new website has been created for teens to get revenge.

"Oh Crap. My Parents Joined Facebook." gives teens a chance to get back at their parents for taking away their "public privacy". They understand that Facebook is a public place, they just don't want their parents on it. Sort of like teens not wanting their parents to hang out at the mall at night.

So what happens on Oh Crap. My Parents Joined Facebook? If a parent or any relative or adult that has friended a teen writes anything that the teen considers embarassing in their status, the teen emails it to the site and it will appear for all to read. Teens do have the option to black out the last names to keep their parents anonymous if they desire. Little captions are added to the bottom of each picture or conversation for additional humor.

Do you insist that your teens be your facebook friends? Are you going to rethink that now?

I'm 52 and was on Facebook before my teenage son. I have the upper hand on that one!

The site is very funny! As a parent of four, I will be very careful with status posts!

It was my daughters who talked me into facebook! And then told me to "friend" them (although they were 18 and 22 at the time.)

Positives on facebook, see article on digg titled: Facebook can be good for kids, socially and educationally.

My sons are on Facebook, as am I, but they refused to friend me. I don't blame them at all.

I think it is great getting adults and kids interacting on this platform. It helps create order in the crazy world of social media. The Specific Chiropractic Center is loving social media for meeting new doctors, patients and partners...thanks for the blog

Facebook sucks. If your parents think its cool or understand it, then most likely it past being hip.

Just had an extended family situation where being a fb friend caught a 13 year old chatting up (seriously) a 17 year old. When my kid gets old enough, I am going to have her PASSWORDS as well as be her friend on fb :-)

Cool how you handled this though and that reflects in how your daughter did.. WTG mom! You don't have to be a mom to 20 other kids.. Just yours and it seems like you are doing a very good job.
