
Teen Read Week 2009 is being celebrated from October 18th to October 24th. What is Teen Read Week? It is an initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association to encourage teens to read for pleasure. With the many sources of entertainment that teens now have, it is important to remind them that reading is one of them.
The theme of Teen Reading Week this year is "Read Beyond Reality". Encourage your teens to read something out of this world, just for fun.
Below is a list of resources to help you and your family celebrate Teen Reading Week:
1. Readergirlz - If you have a daughter, this is the place to go. Readergirlz's celebration of Teen Read Week is like no other. They are hosting live chats with YA authors all week. They have made their own video, poster, bookmarks and will be giving away prizes. Check out this very cool video:
2. YALSA's Top 10 Teen Books 2009 will be announced during Teen Read Week. Voting for the 2009 Teens' Top Ten is now closed. The winners will be announced in a webcast featuring WWE Superstars and Divas during Teen Read Week.
3. Take a look at these lists of classic books for teens to see if your teenager might be interested in reading some of them for fun: Top 20 Classic Books for Teenagers and Top 20 Classic Books for Teenagers, Part two.
