Did you know that this week, May 11-17, is the 90th observance of Children's Book Week in the United States. In honor of this week, an awards gala was held on May 12 in NYC to announce the winners for the Children's Choice Book Awards. There are categories for books for different ages groups, including one for teens. However there is only one overall winner for best author, and this honor went to Stephenie Meyer for Breaking Dawn, the 4th novel in the Twilight series.
The award for Teen Choice Book of the Year went to Breaking Dawn, written by Stephenie Meyer. Over 2,200 teens voted for their favorite books on the Teen Reads website and those choices were used to come up with the finalists in the teen category. Teen Reads is a wonderful website for teens or parents of teens to learn about or discuss books that teens might be interested in.
This is only the second year of the Children's Choice Book Awards. The teen category was added this year. Congratulations to Stephenie Meyer for her two awards.

Great article- and it's soo true- If we can stay connected with our teens ( I have 3)knowing what they are into, taking an interest in their lives, being an involved parent will make all the difference, sharing an interest in books is awesome!
