Is your teenager an aspiring comic or cartoon artist? Do your teens love to read comics or graphic novels and watch cartoons? Do you have fond memories of the comic books of your youth? If you answered yes to any of the above you should pay a visit to the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art (MoCCA) in NYC.

The purpose of the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art is the collection, preservation, study, education, and display of comic and cartoon art. Every genre of the art is represented: animation, anime, cartoons, comic books, comic strips, gag cartoons, humorous illustration, illustration, political illustration, editorial cartoons, caricature, graphic novels, sports cartoons, and computer-generated art.

Currently, MoCCA is hosting The Art of Archie Comics exhibit. This exhibition features pages and pages of rare and unpublished comic art, animated cartoons, gold record winning music, as well as vintage house ads, news clippings, custom collectibles, toys and other merchandise from Archie’s 65 plus years as America’s eternal teenager and runs until February 28, 2010.

On Thursdays, MoCCA offers a series of regularly scheduled lectures, conversations and presentations with comic and cartoon art creators, critics and publishers. The museum also offers various classes such as How to Write Comics and Graphic Novels and Storytelling for Comic Artists.

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art is a great place for a family outing. Children ages 12 and under get in for free and the cost for everyone else is only $5. The museum is open Tuesdays - Sundays from 12-5pm.  MoCCA is located in SOHO on 594 Broadway, Suite 401, between Houston and Prince.
