As the 2010 Winter Olympics open, the release of We Are The World, twenty-five years later is launched. This time it is for the victims of Haiti.
The recording of ‘We Are The World 25 For Haiti' embodies the same enthusiasm, sense of purpose and generosity as the original recording 25 years ago. Through the contributions of the new voices to this rendition of ‘We Are The World,' and with the help of our partners, the We Are The World Foundation will be committed to transparency and will help further the spirit of activism that was at the heart of the original song and movement.
We are developing mechanisms to permit our donors and members of the community to monitor the funds raised, the expenses paid, and the charitable grants funded by the We Are The World Foundation, a newly created not-for-profit organization founded by Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie who have invited Wyclef Jean, Paul Haggis, Randy Phillips, Peter Tortorici and Ambassador Luis Moreno of the Inter-American Development Bank to join them on the board. The Foundation is dedicated to raising money and to making grants to charitable organizations with meaningful and efficient relief and development programs that are responding to the continuing crisis in Haiti.

i appreciate the thought behind this, but i dont understand why they couldnt just write a new charity song for haiti. michael jackson wouldve written a new song for haiti in 5 minutes. (just like he did for victims of 9/11 & huricanne katrina, which mottola haulted, & just like he did for the original we are the world). lets just thank god that they kept him in this one, if they hadnt it wouldve been disasterous for the song & just a tragedy to his legacy. but lets be honest, they wouldnt have kept him in if it wasnt for katherine.
they should learn to be real musicians who come up with new ideas instead of trying to improve on the original... how dare they think they could even attempt to do that anyway, are they f'n retarded?
Quincy Jones:Don't worry you will never reach Thriller success again without Michael....Even if you try "We are the UNIVERSE!lol
Attempts by other artists to sing someone else's song never live up to the original preformance. Micheal's music was always uniquely his, and just sound bad from anyone else.
I agree. This was bad. & no, not "Michael Jackson Bad"... Just bad. can't these vultures go 2 months without trying to exploit michael & his fans' grief? Didnt everyone he ever come in contact with in life try to abuse, use, manipulate, humiliate, destroy, & take advantage of him (in that order)?! They really need to do it to his corpse now? i hated this. I know no one is allowed to say what they think about this, bc of the good cause behind it, but i dont care... It was disrespectful, tasteless.., & just... Gross. This, onbviously, has nothing to do with Haiti you guys. If it did... They wouldve written a New song... For Haiti. Like Michael Jackson wouldve.
