Josie Lou Ratley, after being nearly beaten to death and surviving three brain surgeries is finally preparing to come home.  Wayne Treacy, the teen that attacked Josie Ratley,  is sitting behind bars in Broward County.

His attorney appeared on the TODAY Show stating that Wayne Treacy is remorseful, very sad and tearful quite often.  The psychologist, Michael Brannon, said that he believes that Wayne Treacy, is suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) combined with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) may have contributed to this rage and violent attack.

The following transcript of the text message exchange between Josie Ratley and Wayne Treacy on March 17th, was released by the attorney of Wayne Treacy.

    Man. Both lives. Ruined.

I share my sympathy for both parties. Although, I will say that both parties are guilty. Ratley is guilty for being a merciless bully, while Treacy is guilty for crossing over the line. As I see it, this should had been prevented if they only knew the consequences leading up to their childish decisions. They both deserved what were coming to them--one close to death, while the other rotting-away in prison for the rest of his miserable life.

@Mike, yes that explains the behaviour, but in no way can anyone condone it.

I don't agree with any of you at all. The crime he committed was a horrifying slap on the face of human dignity. If he deals with an insult by stomping a persons head, cracking their skull open, and giving them brain damage, then he desrves to removed out of society entirely. All he had to do was deal with an insult. Because of him, she has to spend the rest of her life as a cripple. You guys act like you have never been caddy to anyone in your lives, truth is none of you are any better then she is. It is easy to point a finger and say something as unempathetic as " She got what she deserved." Yet, that type of comment is heartless and not right.
Truth is, Treacy was going to maime or kill someone anyway, it was just a matter of time. She didn't want him texting her phone anymore, and acted childish, but teens to this all the time. Stomping on a human skull is what a phscyotic sociopath does. Treacy needs to be put away a long time in the interest of public safty.
    You guys are wrong

Both parties are guilty. Her for being an idiot, and him for crossing the line and almost killing her.

If he was smart he would've got the entire school to know what she said. He would've posted the transcript all over the internet, mainly facebook, posted photos of her to show that she was the one responsible etc. As I've always said, revenge is a dish best served cold, and this situation is no different.

The guy was not all there when this happened, and obviously she wasn't either. Most people know when to hold their tongue, she didn't, yet most people also know not to stomp on someone else's head.

Both guilty. Now she's brain damaged for her actions and he's going to be serving time for his.

I cannot not believe what I am reading...she asked to be beaten nearly to death? Ryan, Al and Chris...hate to be your girlfriend.
Remember the little rhyme most of us learned in school. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me? This was HER phone, if he didn't like what he was reading... don't text her. What you can't read can't hurt you. He is the model for what is wrong with society today. And his little defenders aren't model citizens either. GROW UP.

look, wayne treacy was a kid suffering from the trauma of his brother's death.... and i do feel slightly sorry 4 him, but the atrocious act he commited cannot be excused. luk at the texts, wayne started off by swearing at ratley, so she was right in using profanity back in him. then wayne insulted ratley's father so ratley was justified in making a reference to his dead brother. that is where the problem started wayne was genuinely very hurt about this and angry but on the other hand ratley was not aware that she was hurting wayne emotionally, she was considering it a joke and she was obviously irritated that wayne kept sending these messages to her.and then wayne had travelled to her school and kicked this poor girl smaller than himself. i feel sorry for wayne treacy for the trauma he had to go through and for josie lou ratley for the way she was treated and i sincerely hope she recovers.josie wasn't an angel but she never deserved this.

btw u ppl r retards calling josie a bully. wayne started insulting her and she was right in insulting him back but the comment about his dead brother was harsh, but remember wayne also insulted josie's father. and josie probably never knew that wayne was so hurt by his brother's death. josie might have been a little silly and harsh but that does not make her a bully. a bully is someone who willingly hurts weaker people but josie was retaliating against wayne's messages, but she overdid it. but thats not an excuse for wayne to stomp her head with steel toed boots.he wore his steel boots and drove all the way to find this girl which was around three hours so it was not a heat of the moment attack.so wayne set out with murder in his mind and he deserves a prison sentence. wayne should have coped with his anger in a better way.

Hurtful, over the line words are different from KILLING SOMEONE- she shouldn't have been so disrespectful but she didn't deserve to be almost killed-PERIOD.

She was the one who started the insulting. If she had not gone out of her way to provoke him, nothing would have ever happened to her.

I don't feel sorry for that Treacy kid at all! He knew what he was going to do and he knows what is right and what is wrong. That "trauma" that he is supposedly suffering from is just an excuse for him to get off with an insanity plea! If he really was "insane" why wasn't locked up in the first place? This country has a flaw in it's law and somw one needs to change it. If it was up to me to decide...Treacy is GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!!! "Sticks and stone can break your bone but words can never hurt you."

The boy is at fault. Yes, she crossed a line and dished a low blow - but people are always going to be petty and stupid and you can't go around curb stomping because of a sensitive subject. (I know that - I've been around suicide and the harsh comments people can make; I haven't tried to kill anyone.) Hell, maybe even a slap across the face would have been, well, not acceptable, but understandable. Kicking someone's head in is barbaric and tragic. Not to mention, reports say he was 18 and dating this 13 year old friend of hers. So aside from intense rage issues, he's also got a thing for pedophilia.

Screw that; he should rot in prison.

The guy was wrong that is not disputable. However, you go off spurting pure idiotic and incorrect information. He was the same age as the big mouthed texting girl, 15.(at the time) And was TALKING to the 13 year old friend that was just one grade below him. That is common practice in school and not "pedophilia". Do a little research before you open that suck hole of yours.

These are just two scared teens. They each pushed each other, but Wayne obviously went to far and had/has some mental issues. It is easy to say that she antagonized him, but she really just responded and asked him to stop multiple times. She has some fault, but 99% of it is his, and if you think it is her fault I will find you and stomp your face with metal toe boots and bash your brain with a skateboard so bad that they have to surgically remove it...

hahaha. He was wrong in his retaliation without a doubt. However, to say she is only 1% culpable is you being naive.. She was trying to provoke him... and she did.. her mission was accomplished. Now, please don't stomp me.

I bet she will think twice about purposely sticking a verbal knife in a fresh wound of someones dead relative. He was wrong in how he retaliated but I remember losing my best friend at a young age and it wouldnt have taken very much to set me off.... and that was a friend not a brother. The kid was wrong without a doubt but raw emotion is a dangerous thing. She thought she was safe being a girl and hiding behind texts... guess she was wrong.

What she said was a low blow, but he was already threatening her before she mentioned his brother. She shouldn't have said that but that does NOT give him a single right to kick her face in.
