Looking for a cheap, sentimental gift for your children to give their grandparents? Try these handmade Santa Clauses. My son made this in his art class last year, but I have also seen it in Family Fun Magazine.
Supplies:
Green, black, red, and pink construction paper
White tempera paint
Scissors
Glue
Paper plate
Steps:
1) Cut Santa’s eyes, nose, mouth, cheeks, and hat out of construction paper.
2) Pour a thin layer of tempera paint onto the paper plate.
3) Place your child’s hand in the paint, making sure to cover the entire palm and fingers.
4) Press the painted hand firmly on the green construction paper. Then wipe off your child’s hand with a wet paper towel or diaper wipe.
5) Glue Santa’s eyes, nose, mouth, cheeks, and hat onto the paper, using the fingers of the handprint as the bottom of the beard.
6) Dip your child’s pointer finger in the tempera paint, and have him add a fingerprint fringe and a tassel to Santa’s hat.
Variation: You can use little pom poms or permanent markers for Santa’s facial features and the hat fringe.
Best ages: two to five years
Time: 30 minutes or less
