Dad and Me photo- a fun tradition to start this Father's Day

Dad and me - Father's Day
               Happy Father's Day Dads!

It’s always bittersweet when you hear new parents talk about their very young kids saying that they can’t wait until they sleep through the night, are out of diapers, learn to talk or even are old enough to start lessons, school etc.

When you have little ones, it does seem like things will never change but change they will: and way too fast!

Any parent who has watched a child grow into a toddler, through their tweens onto a teen and reach adulthood can tell you it happened in a heartbeat.

Kids continue growing no matter what else is happening in our lives and as I always feel, even without our permission!

One really wonderful way to capture that growth – along with Dad’s – is to snap a photo of your child with Dad every Fathers Day. He can hold them when they are babies but it works best if they stand next to (or in front of) Dad from the time they are able to stand on their own. This will put together an enjoyable way to look back every year to see just how much they have both changed.

You can do it with all the kids in a group or choose to do it one by one which I think is nice because you can always put them together for the kids when they leave the house. These are great fun to put on a  Digital Photo Frame, up on a wall or in a scrapbook.

I thought of this when I was very young and BK (before kids) where a family had put out all of their kids pictures with Santa for a Christmas party. It was fun to see how the kids had changed through the years and decided I would not only do that (as a group) but also do them individually on Mother’s and Father’s Day so there would be a running connection of photos of the whole family.

They really do make a cute way to capture a memory: to show a yearly glimpse into Dad and Me. And believe me it is another bittersweet moment when you look back and see this little boy in a baseball cap that doesn’t reach Dad’s thigh and fast forward to this year’s photo where at 6’4” he is 2 inches taller that Dad. And I swear it happened in a heartbeat!
