Banning BPA from baby bottles and sippy cups

BPA free baby bottles
Will BPA be banned from all baby bottles &
sippy cups or will the FDA's findings stand?

Suffolk County, New York enacted the nation's first banning of the chemical bisphenol A (BPA) from baby bottles and other empty beverage containers used by children ages 3 and younger. While several other States (including Washington) are considering banning the chemical, Suffolk County wins the honor of being the first place to enact one. The ban will take effect in 90 days.

Canada took action last year, by banning BPA from baby bottles, making them the first country to restrict the sale of the chemical. The FDA and European Union have both declared BPA safe but, many health and consumer groups (including National Toxicology Program) believe it is harmful and insists more studies are needed.

BPA, is often found in baby bottle and sippy cups as it is used to harden plastic and make it shatterproof. It is also often used in eyeglass lenses and many household items most of us use every day.
