Local writer and coach Laura Davis is offering a special writing class for the parents of children with special needs. Participants need not have writing experience to attend.

"I decided to offer this class because I've had a number of parents with special needs kids come through my writing groups, and writing has always seemed to be safe, therapeutic way for them to express the frustrations, joys and daily struggles involved in raising a special child," Davis says. "Most parents with children who are ill or face special challenges have no time to nurture themselves, yet if the parent is burnt out and frustrated, or just plain exhausted, the whole family suffers. This workshop is a little bit of community-building reprieve-- a place to vent, to celebrate, to share, to connect."
