Can’t find Eggo waffles? You’re not alone! Fortunately, kids are resilient and not as brand-loyal as parents so this is a good time to introduce some new breakfast traditions. While homemade waffles reign supreme, busy parents know that it is not practical to get out the waffle iron on school days.

Here are some good alternatives from the freezer section to help see you through the current Eggo waffle shortage.

Safeway Waffles
Available in five flavors, these waffles are currently on sale for $1.69 per box with a Safeway Club Card. Flavors include Homestyle, Buttermilk, Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, and Cinnamon. At our house, waffles double as dessert sometimes—we toast Chocolate Chip waffles, sprinkle with mini chocolate chips, microwave for about 20 seconds, and then spread the melted chips over the waffles.  Yum.  Safeway Belgian waffles, with deep wells for holding lots of syrup, are $2 per box with Club card.

Pillsbury Toaster Strudels
Share the breakfast chores! After you toast these flaky filled pastries, let kids squeeze the icing packets onto the warm pastries. While some kids like to make swirls and artistic designs, other kids spread the icing with a knife, making sure to cover every inch of pastry. Look for these flavors: Apple, Apple Cream Danish, Blueberry, Raspberry, Strawberry, Cinnamon Roll, Cherry, Cream Cheese and Strawberry, and Boston Cream Pie.  Look for these at Target—they seem to have a better price than Safeway, unless Safeway runs a Club Card special.

Krusteaz French Toast
Krusteaz makes French Toast in two flavors: cinnamon swirl and regular.  They also make French Toast Stix in cinnamon and regular. If you serve French Toast Stix, put some syrup in a custard cup for easy dipping.

Aunt Jemima Pancakes
Although these are available in Low Fat, Buttermilk, Homestyle, Whole Wheat, Blueberry, and Mini Pancakes, the Homestyle and Mini-Pancakes seem to be the easiest to find in this area. For a change of pace, let kids spread strawberry jelly over the warm pancakes instead of syrup.

Have fun making some new quick-fix breakfast traditions!
