Using natural light and getting down to a child's level are two of the best tips for taking pictures of children, according to Chester County area photographer and mom Claire Bunn.
However, the advantage of hiring a professional is that you get someone with a creative vision who can "highlight everybody's assets" and illustrate the relationship between family members, she said.
For a limited time, Bunn is offering a reduced rate on her services which makes that advantage all the more attractive.
Bunn brings a "casual approach" to photographing children and families, which she says, "helps capture those every day moments that you treasure as a parent." She will come to a house or a favorite outdoor spot so the child is in a familiar environment.
As a parent and a photographer, Bunn said she knows how quickly a child's mood can change. Therefore, plenty of time is provided to capture that perfect shot.
"By hiring a professional you are getting more time to let things happen organically. You don't want to force a child's smile," she said.
Although Bunn said she has had a life long love of photography and has been taking pictures ever since "receiving a Fischer Price 110 camera as a child," she recently began a photography business after ten years as a commercial interior designer.
"I encourage moms to take a closer look at what they are passionate about and see if there is demand for that skill," she said. "Networking is very important when you are trying to generate business. Use all potential connections you can to spread the word and meet possible clients."
For making the most of your photo shoot, Bunn advises:
- Keep your clothing simple. Solid colors work well and are classic.
- Make sure to schedule your appointment for a time when little ones are typically well rested.
- Most importantly, don't put too much pressure on yourself or the kids.
