Twilight MOMS on the Web

The novel that started the Twilight craze.

Teenage girls aren’t the only moviegoers lining up to see Twilight in the theater these days. The four-novel saga written by Stephenie Meyer about the romance between an awkward high school student and a handsome, sensitive vampire has attracted a group of fans known as the Twilight MOMS on the Web. TwilightMOMs.com recently celebrated its first birthday, and includes updates on Meyer’s work, cast members of the Twilight movie, and production updates on the upcoming films in the series.

The Twilight MOMS Web site describes itself as a place “Where Fans of Stephenie Meyer at Our Unique Phase of Life (balancing family, work AND our Twilight addiction) Become Friends.” Web site forum members don’t necessarily have to be mothers (or vampires), but the TwilightMOMS forum is only open to women over the age of 25 who are married or are moms (younger fans are encouraged to sign up for the TwilightTEENS site).

I have to admit that I stumbled upon the Twilight craze a little late in the game. My tastes in literature run from Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald to John Updike and Amy Tan, so in the past I’ve tended to avoid books that had such a pop culture appeal. But the back story about how Stephenie Meyer was able to write four novels while raising her three young children intrigued me, and so I decided to find out for myself what the fuss was all about.

And so I read Twilight, and now I’m halfway through New Moon. And yes, I will be reading Eclipse and Breaking Dawn in that order. And while the Twilight series might never be compared to The Great Gatsby, Stephenie Meyer has been able to create a literary universe that resonates with fans of all ages, which is a challenge for any writer. The fact that she was able to accomplish this feat while balancing her family responsibilities makes it all the more impressive.

So enjoy the associated links—but don’t tell me what happens after the first half of New Moon!

A horrific example of wasted time on reading crap passed on to your children. Why not read with your kids something worth reading instead of reading crap (and anyone who has read it can see it is crap) and then running to the web to talk about it. Yra that's an example we want to give our kids!

It's wonderful to find a spot on the Net for fans who are more like you, although I always enjoy reading teens' takes, too.
Duhh, the books sell in the millions and there are fan sites all over the web for people of all ages because plenty of people disagree with you. Why are you wasting your time reading articles about it if that's how you feel? Now there's a messed-up example.
    Twilight Moms rock!

I don't understand why people take the time to write mean comments on articles that don't have anything to do with them. I love Twilight, too, and no, it isn't Great Gatsby, but not everything has to be to be fun!

Besides Twilight Moms there is also another adult Twilight site called Adult Twilight Fans (google it since I can't post a link here). I personally like that one better since I am a mature 24, not married, not a mom. Plus, they're a really fun bunch over there!

I agree, it is impresive how addictive this books are. I have given the books to friends and family and now all of them are now fans. LOL is great to see them go from book to book and I get text messages or calls when the get to certain point to tell me about it, so I can share with them the love of this books :D.

I agree with Emily - I like the Adult Twilight Fans site better, too. It's more organized and easier to maneuver through. I am a web designer and nothing drives me more crazy than seeing google ads on a website. The ATF one is very neat and they must have actually paid for it since it is "ad free". TwiMoms isn't bad, but I just prefer the other one.

I've spent some time on TwiMOMs and loved it at first, but quickly realized that the moderators are over-zealous with their censorship. It's a bit ridiculous. Can't wait to check out the other adult Twilight site you referenced. Thanks!

Thanks to Emily (I recognize your name from our forum!) and Kelly for the kind compliments about Adult Twilight Fans. :D I'm actually the creator and happened to come across this article through a Google alert. I have nothing bad to say about TwiMoms, but I wanted to start a site that was just a little bit different. I also have run a website for an actor from '300' for the past couple of years, so I have a ton of experience with the whole fansite thing. I actually have a friendship with him now, which is just a small perk. I'm a little stricter on his forum because we do have younger girls on there, but with ATF I gave it a solid R rating since it is meant for adult fans. Therefore, even I can have fun, gush, and push the envelope a bit! :D

Don't forget about us mid-20 year old Twilight-obsessed working professionals! I think by now we spend more time here:
    letterstotwilight.com
    than working on our professions:)
