Hiya moms and dads! January is National Get Organized month. If you celebrated Christmas, you've taken down the tree and gotten rid of the gift wrap clutter. Or if you didn't, you've figured out what you wanted to do differently in 2010.
One of the things that moms and dads often struggle with is making sure that we're organized. Whether it is our child's room, our bedrooms or the entire house! Here are some tips to get you organized this year and declutter.
1. Start one room at a time. If you find that clutter follows your family around everywhere, pick one room to work on. Don't move to another room until that particular one has been decluttered,
2. Throw out anything that's broken. What's the point in keeping something if it doesn't work?
3. Recycle whenever you can. In the city, recycling is mandatory. Have the kids help you sort paper, plastic and metals. Then you can have the kids bundle up the paper and tie with a string.
4. Donate what you cannot recycle. In these hard times, we could all use some help. Give your children's outgrown clothes to family and friends with younger children. If you don't have anyone around who can use them, try giving the items to the Salvation Army.
5. Repeat as needed. The important rule for organizing things is to maintain it. Once you get organized and decluttered, keep it that way. A little bit everyday goes a long way.
Hope these tips will help you declutter and organize your home and family this month.
