Ty's newest Ty Girlz Beanie dolls
Ty, the company that makes beanie babies has come up with "Marvelous Malia" and "Sweet Sasha" beanie dolls. Both dolls are African American but Ty insists they are not replicas of the young Obama girls.
Everyone knows that the Obama girls are a hot news topic right now, and I'm not so sure I believe Ty. J Crew's web site crashed after crowds logged on to look for the coats the Obama girls wore to the inauguration. I'm pretty sure Ty is hoping for the same amount of enthusiasm for their product. The dolls are featured both on the main web site's home page and on the separate "Ty Girlz" web site.
One marked difference between the dolls and the real Obama children is the "Malia" doll is pictured with fully developed bust. The real Malia is only 10 years-old and hasn't crossed that threshold yet.
What do you think? With rampant Obama marketing for everything from watches to collector's plates and t-shirts are the Obama girls fair game or is Ty going too far? What about the breasts? Creative license or another example of over-sexualization of girls?

Ty Inc. should rethink trying to get a free ride from this. The Pres. and Michelle might not pursue a lawsuit, but their two little girls might hire a lawyer in a few years. Remember the Bratz Dolls? I hope no one buys them.
These dolls are innocent fun. America loves Sasha and Malia, so why not have cute dolls in their likeness. I know I will buy them.
I would like to know where I can purchase the Malia and Sasha dolls.
Eploitation at its best. Not cute:0 As the mother and grnadmother of 5 African American girls. their "fully developed" bodies indicated how are young girls are viewed by "mainstream" money makers. Not an"honor" be be sold along with "Paris" doll. Organizing a major boycott TYCO of this dolls...we all know that many American's will sell their soul for money. The girls should be off limits - have we NO morals
Historically, lots of dolls have been based on real people. Bottom line is, lighten up Michelle. These girls are adored by the Nation and dolls can be good role models for children, who are after all innocents. They don't hold their beloved doll and say, "hey, this is exploitation!" Besides, we are a capitalist nation, free to make money as we wish...I'm sure there will be lots of memorabilia that pays homage to this unique first family while making a buck.
I think the over the top boobs are a bit much.
I feel Ty,Inc. was out of line using the Obama girls names for the dolls. Personally I have never heard the name Malia until the Obama girls.
I'm asking America not to purchase the dolls. I also feel Ty, Inc. should issue a public apology to the 1st Family.
Very Lovely dolls, but, I have The dolls...www.domesticsunlimitedcherriewilliams.com *See the Archive:my special named:"ObOma"and others.
