Mom Breastfed In the Past - Attended in Support of Nursing Moms
Nicole Sellers got dressed with a mission on Monday morning. Wearing a shirt that revealed plenty of cleavage, Nicole printed a sign that read, "I'm showing more breast than a nursing mother". Next she put her two kids in the car and drove to the "Nurse In" event, a peaceful protest held in Greenville and six other cities across the US.
"I actually don't breastfeed anymore," said Sellars as she sat on the grass with a small crows of moms who gathered across from the 106.3 WORD radio station building on Garlington Road in Greenville, SC.
Sellars brought her 3 year-old daughter and 21 month-old son to advocate with nursing moms who gathered in reaction to comments made on air by radio host, Lisa of the Lisa and Russ Show, - comments that expressed Lisa's distaste at witnessing a mom nurse a baby in a Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Greenville, SC.
"I breastfed my children for a year a piece," said Sellers. "It was the best decision I ever made for them. If I can support another woman in her right to do that, I'm happy to be here."
Mom Shocked that Radio Show Host BadMouthed Completely Covered Nursing Mom
Kristen Sloboda had never attended a public protest before Monday's "Nurse In". "Before I had children I didn't understand the need to feed at any given moment, and had seen both discrete nursing and outwardly exposed nursing in public and was more comfortable with the discretion that covered moms used," said Sloboda.
"Once I learned that the offending nursing mother in Chick - Fil - A was completely covered, and Lisa was offended because she knew what was going on under the cover, and furthermore suggested nursing in the bathroom, I felt an equally opposing extreme action was in order and this is why I attended," Sloboda also told Examiner.
Sloboda made a sign that was a message to Radio Show Host Lisa ,which read, "Join us for lunch Lisa? Which fast food restroom would you like to dine in? You can have the first stall and we will breastfeed our babies in the other stalls."
