Daily dose of random parenting advice: bad mood triggers to avoid.
It's funny how quickly a toddler's mood can change from really happy to furious...and then back again. Funny, in the not so ha-ha kind of way. Here are five factors that you should avoid like the latest strain of the flu:
- Hunger. Remember "The Little Shop of Horrors" ? Avoid this at all costs. Always carry their favorite snacks with you, with a few extras because you know a few will be dropped or thrown away in frustration.
- Fatigue. Just like with us adults, tiredness can and will make the best feel and act grouchy.
- Perceived injustices. Heaven help you if he/she thinks you are being nicer to someone else than to him/her.
- Overstimulation. Try not to do too much. Think about how tired you get when you're running to and fro.
- Changes in routine. Routine is a good thing. Children, and most adults I know, like to know what's coming next.
