The most priceless gift you can give your family for the holidays is… you!
You are giving the gift of Christmas Past to your children today. Whether or not you know it, you are creating childhood memories everyday. When your children are grown, this holiday will be their Christmas Past.
Instead of having a panic attack over the things you simply can not do, make the most of what you can; the most priceless gift you can give to your family for the holidays, the gift that will be cherished in the future is the gift of yourself:
- The time baking with your child,
- Gazing out the window watch snow together,
- Singing at the top of your lungs old favorite Christmas carols-slightly off key.
- The sweet smells of your kitchen as you simmer apple juice in a slow cooker with a cinnamon stick and a sprinkling of your favorite spices,
- Roast turkey cooking slowly,
- Cookies after you have baked them,
- Sipping hot chocolate and reading a holiday story each night before bed.
- A warm fire crackling as you roast marshmallows.
- Bright wrapping paper and curling ribbon,
- Handmade cards
- A few choice gifts
- Church service
- Please add your own family tradition*
Or
Your child’s Christmas memory can be an exhausted family, tired, grumpy, tantrums, filled with arguing over everything from money to relatives.
It is your choice. The secret is you can’t do everything. You need to make some choices so you are not overextended and worn-out. So you are present for your precious family. Christmas is coming, ready or not, maybe you should trim the “to do” list. Turn your energies toward creating a Christmas worth remembering.
Give your family a happy, loving peaceful joyous you.
Peace,
