Miami and Homestead families are very excited to hear the news that Miami-Dade County Public Schools, as part of their ongoing commitment to school choice, is all set to open the new medical and science magnet high school for the upcoming school year.
Medical Academy for Science and Technology, MAST@Homestead, will offer three distinct areas of study (or strands) -- biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical, and physical therapy. For the 2010-2011 academic year, the pharmaceutical and physical therapy strands are being offered; the biomedical sciences strand will begin the following academic year.

Typically, the admissions process for magnet high schools is that incoming high school students must apply to their chosen magnet school by January of their eighth-grade year. MAST@Homestead is currently accepting applications for incoming ninth-grade students; the deadline for applications to be submitted is August 6, 2010.
