Named for its location on Boston Avenue in Fort Pierce, the Boston House is believed to be one of the more haunted locations on the Treasure Coast. The house, originally known as Cresthaven, was built in 1909. It is believed the house, now a law office, is haunted by Aleaceon Perkins, who is still waiting for her husband and son who were lost at sea in the early 1900s.
There have been reports of guests visiting the Law Offices of Phillips and Ziskinder experiencing paranormal encounters with the spirit of Perkins. Some have reported seeing a white light coming through the walls and a vision of a red-haired woman in a tattered white dress calling for help.
Other paranormal reports about the house have included sounds of a woman singing to the music of a harp, cold spots felt throughout the building, blasts of hot air coming from no where, personal items have disappeared to only reappear a few days later and papers on desks have been shuffled around.
The belief that the house is haunted by Perkins is the most popular and widely told story about the Boston House haunting. The stories say she walks the halls in search of her family and cannot leave until she finds her son Tim. A majority of the sightings of Perkins have been in the upstairs window overlooking the ocean, which fit’s the story.
There are many theories behind the haunting and some paranormal investigators and believers say it is not entirely known who is haunting the Boston House. Another theory is the house is haunted by two boys who were killed by a transient in a crawl space in the house. Others believe the house is haunted by a group of Native Americans or of an African American girl with red hair.
Please note that the Boston House is a privately owned property and there are no tours or admission allowed, unless a client of the law office. The Boston House is located at 239 S. Indian River Drive in Fort Pierce. Though admission is not offered, try and walk by the outside and see if you can catch a glimpse of Perkins looking out the window.
