You can lose weight by scrapbooking or creating a weight loss journal

This morning on The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, Susan Powter, from the “Stop the Insanity” fame, talked about her new book The Politics of Stupid: The Cure for Obesity where she uses her trademark style humor to share her real-life, commonsense approach to weight loss. Let’s all just go ahead and admit that a lot of paper crafting is done sitting in chairs, which means a lot of time spent sitting on our derrières.

Believe it or not, scrapbooking may be just want you need to motivate you to eat right and get your body in motion. You can create a weight loss scrapbook or journal. If you’re working on it regularly, then it keeps your goals and progress at the forefront of your mind.

Studies show that people who keep food journals lose more weight. In essence, if you are committed to writing every bite down, you are less likely to put something in your mouth.

As a paper crafter, you can combine keeping a journal with making a scrapbook. You can track your food, goals, thoughts, and even add photos to show your progress.

Weight Loss Layouts and Journals:

Jen Caputo, Studio Girls Scrapbookgraphics, created a Weight Loss Journal Project template set to create your very own weight-loss journal complete with daily tracking sheets, shopping lists, recipe pages, weight-loss tracking graphs and tables, monthly dividers, and a 15 page pdf file showing you step by step, how to put it together with ideas on how to fill out each page.

Big Picture Scrapbooking is offering an online class called Wellness Journey taught by Lisa Cohen. Lisa will lead you on an adventure towards better health, fitness, and vitality. In this eight-week workshop, she will teach you how to will take the first steps towards a life-long commitment to wellness. You’ll set goals and create a fitness and wellness plan that will work for you. And of course, you will receive instructions on making a scrapbook journal to record your journey.

You can also join a scrapbooking weight loss group. These groups can provide support via message boards throughout your weight loss journey. There are quite a few out there that are always accepting new paper crafters into their groups.

What a fantastic idea. I've been "coaching" a friend who had gastric bypass surgery right after Hurricane Ike hit Houston (Sept 08). Since that time, with me dragging her to the gym, she has lost over 132 lbs. It would be so great to create something like this to journal the journey she has made. And, I've gotten the best seat in the house to watch it all ... on the treadmill or elliptical machine right next to her!

    I love this idea!

This is an awesome post. I'm totally going to get a scrapbook making kit and make me a journal. I just heard the new Your Story machines were out. Maybe I'll get one of those and make me a nice little book that I can take around with me. Thanks for the post! http://www.luckycharmcrafts.com

You know this is a really interesting idea that you've got here. I guess you could really accomplish any goal if you scrapbooked or wrote about it all the time because that would help you think about it all the time. I think I'm going to have to raid my kids art sets for some supplies, but I'm definitely going to have to try and do this. http://SmartKidsArtSet.com
