The image of pageant contestants as stupid is a myth, particularly when it comes to winners associated with the Miss America Organization. One of many cases in point is the newly crowned Miss Illinois' Outstanding Teen, Andrea Novak.

She has a grade point average of 5.0 and is a consistent presence on the A Honor Roll at her high school in Arlington Heights.

Andrea is also a talented performer who has appeared in such productions as “Intangible Things” and “Do Ya Think.”

When crowned Outstanding Teen, Andrea received $1,300 in savings bonds for future education expenses and an additional $2,500 from Dolphin Entertainment for unspecified travel to Los Angeles to learn more about the entertainment business.

Dolphin Entertainment is responsible for several youth-oriented television series, including Zoey 101, Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide and South of Nowhere.

Andrea also travels to Florida in August to compete for Miss America’s Outstanding Teen.

According to the Miss Illinois website, “Her platform is ‘Strengthening Teen Values: The Key to Adult Success’ in which she focuses on helping teens and pre-teens make good decisions with their life in order to become strong and successful adults. For her talent, she performed a dance-twirl routine to ‘We're Dancing’.”
