Vladimir Putin is reportedly celebrating the arrival of a son.
This might come as something of a surprise, that Vladimir Putin has just had a son. For his wife is of an age with himself, and Putin is 57. But we tend not to hear all that much about his private life for the fairly obvious reason that nor are people in Russia really allowed to know all that much about his private life:
Last year, when newspaper Moskovsky Korrespondent reported the rumor that Putin, 57, was divorcing his wife, Ludmila -- the mother of his two daughters -- to marry Alina, the paper was quickly shut down by its owner, Alexander Lebedev,
That's how you deal with an interfering press! However, the gossip is fairly well known that Putin has a girlfriend:
Alina Kabaeva, the gorgeous, 26-year-old rhythmic gymnastics champion, recently gave birth to a boy in Moscow and named the baby Dimitry, a moniker he'll share with Putin's handpicked president, Dimitry Medvedev.
Kabaeva has been identified as Putin's girlfriend ever since she retired from competition in 2006 after winning two Olympic medals and 18 World Championship medals to become the most decorated gymnast in history.
She was also elected to the Duma, the Russian Parliament, at age 24 or so. Which is pretty good going until you realise that she was Putin's girlfriend at that time and she ran for a tame party which supports Putin.
Still, gives Senator Max Baucus something to think about, doesn't it? Instead of recommending a girlfriend for a US Attorney's job, why not try to parachute her into Congress itself?
