NFL QB Brees' mom's death ruled suicide

The Grand County Coroner has ruled that the 59 year old mother of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees committed suicide at a friend's house in Granby  on August 7th.

Coroner Brenda Bock ruled that Mina Brees died of a prescription drug overdose at a home near Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park.  Her business records had recently been subpoenaed by a Texas court.

Drew Brees and his mother have had a strained relationship for six years dating back to the elder Brees' use of Drew's image in campaign advertisements for a seat on a Texas appeals court.  The quarterback once refered to his relationship with his mother as "nonexistent".

Drew will lead the Saints against the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay this Sunday.

Why in hell does anyone think this is something to print. This is a personal and family matter for those people.

I also don't think it's the entire world's business to read about the grief between a mother and son.

This is news, and both of you are readers of this news. If you find it distasteful, then it is your prerogative not to read it. It is my job to report the news, and I have done that. No judgment, just facts.

It's important to people because as a fan you care about the players. Plus people who bet on games or do fantasy football like to know if this is going to affect his playing.

Sure, any death is personal to the family, but a person who makes a living from the public, needs to share this info and in most cases the media sees to this. This is the first ive heard about his mom. I still think he should make a statement.
