Tea Party Express chugs into New Lenox

The summer’s hot topics will be boiling in New Lenox next week as Conservatives roll into town with the Tea Party Express.

The Tea Party Express national bus tour is hosting rallies all across the nation, starting in California and traveling eastward toward a march on D.C. Sept. 12.

The folks who brought us two Joliet Tax Day Tea Parties and a Sept. 13 rally at U.S. Sen. Debbie Halvorson’s Joliet office are hosting the National Tea Party Express in New Lenox Sept. 7. About 110 turned out at Halvorson’s office earlier this month to oppose Obama administration health care reforms and about 70 gathered in support, according to information on the Joliet tea party web site.

The Tea Party Express is one of a throng of Conservative groups who during the August Congressional break have been shouting down supporters of the Obama agenda. Lawmakers have been physically assaulted, hung in effigy, and threatened with death, according to Obama information. The "Tea Party Express" tour will feature leaders in the anti-tax, conservative, tea party movement along with musical performances that includes the “American Tea Party Anthem" and "A Bailout Song" at each tea party event.

The Tea Party Express caravan, which features two 45-foot coaches along with several RV’s, a contingent of SUVs and support vehicles, will head eastward from California on Friday. The goal is to unify, educate, and most importantly encourage Americans to continue their opposition of deficit spending, government-run healthcare, and  bailouts, according to a press release.

"Our hope for this tour," said Mark Williams, featured speaker onboard the Tea Party Express, "is that patriotic Americans will be encouraged by these rallies, and realize that there are millions of people out there supporting this cause. Contrary to what Katie Couric will tell you," continued Williams, "we are neither fearful nor ignorant; we are the soul of this nation."

The Tea Party Express tour will feature action-oriented conservative spokespeople and entertainers such as talk show host Mark Williams, Marine Mom Deborah Johns, National Tax Limitation Committee Chairman, Lew Uhler, singer Lloyd Marcus, YouTube sensation Rivoli Review, pop singer Diana Nagy, embedded members of the media, and many more.

It comes to The Commons Performing Arts Pavilion in New Lenox at 10 a.m. Sept. 7. 101 Veterans Parkway.

    Robyn,

This part of your article below is very irresponsible. We have had 4 events and nothing like these things below have happened. Please do not fan the flames of anger, citizen against citizen.

    Ms. Monaghan,

I have attended (3) tea parties in Charleston, SC and will be attending the one in Washington, DC. I have not seen one incident of violence or even hostility.

I agree with Tim. This is irresponsible reporting at best.

I personally can't wait to see the huge turnout that is expected. All media outlets will realize that it's time to listen to the people and not the big wigs at your corporations that are in bed with this administration.

P.S.- Contrary to popular belief I am not a racist, I am college educated, I'm in my late twenties and a female! Wow- completely not the 'tea party" demographics I have read about in the news....go figure?!

This part of the article needs some verification beyond quoting unknown Obama sources: "The Tea Party Express is one of a throng of Conservative groups who during the August Congressional break have been shouting down supporters of the Obama agenda. Lawmakers have been physically assaulted, hung in effigy, and threatened with death, according to Obama information."

    This appears to be mis-information.

    Robyn,

Don't let the First Amendment hamper your agenda. If you can't respectfully refute dissention, then isolate the voice & smear the individual from which it eminates from.

The attack teams from the Obama Care Machine are out in force calling people unamerican, nazi, and racist just because we have different opinions. Their goal is to stop freedom of speech and force Obama Care on 85% of America who are happy with their insurance. America has to stand up to these extremist thugs!! We have never protested before but we have to stand up to these paid Obama Care groups like Acorn. THE SILENT MAJORITY HAS BEEN AWAKENED!!! We have just started!!!Marty
