Toronto artist Biljana Banchotova began her artistic journey though reflection. As an artist, her inspiration is drawn from the Divine Self, an inner divinity that can be contemplated through the reflective mirror of artistic expression.
Self taught, Biljana's work is influenced by personal journeying. She is most "inspired by the wisdom in storytelling and the healing art of understanding energy and patterns in time."
In Biljana's pantheon of deities, the hoy trinity is the Mind, Body and Spirit. The major milestones of her artistic development involves a "process of ascending and simplifying at the same time while awakening to the oneness."
Living in Canada since 1996, Biljana has been deeply influenced by the art of the First Nations. Her earliest artisitic memories are of tradtional Macedonian weaving and she continues to weave personal experience into the tapestry of her art. Undergoing a First Nations spirit quest has aided her on the journey to understanding herself and her spiritual mosaic, which includes exploration into Celtic, African, Tibetan, Indian and Chinese spirituality.
A child of the world and a blend of international spirituality, her spiritual home is Canada where the meeting place of all peoples can occur peacefully. "Every nation with all colors of the rainbow, standing together shining as one light."
