It's not too early to make plans to celebrate Beltane, especially if you can manage a four-day weekend Thursday May 6 through Sunday May 9.
Beltania, now in its third year, provides a family-friendly opportunity for local Pagans to spend some quality time celebrating the season, communing with Nature, listening to live music and meeting like-minded people.
Beltania incorporates Neopagan, metaphysical, New Age, and alternative religions into a celebration of the beginning of summer (as determined by the old religions). It is a Beltane festival woven from "music, celebration, spirit and community."
This year's Beltania will be held at Florence Mountain Park about an hour south of Colorado Springs. With over 200 acres of wilderness, views, trees and meadows, the park provides plenty of room for camping, rituals, fire circles, drum circles, concerts, vendors, workshops and more.
Concerts Friday and Saturday will include performances by The Gypsy Nomads, Lunar Fire, Kenny Klein, Tuatha, The Stone Walls, Skean Dubh, Lara Jai and Mountain Trance Medicine Band, to name a few.
A large maypole dance is planned, and safe sweat lodge ceremonies will be ongoing throughout the event, beginning with an all-day lodge building ceremony.
Be sure to pre-register as tickets are not available at the gate. Register before April 1 and take advantage of the early registration discount.
Children 12 and under are free, and RV spaces are limited. To register or learn more, visit the Beltania Web site. Beltania is sponsored by Living Earth, Inc., a Colorado Nonprofit Organization.
Blessed Be
