Dr. Eugene White, Superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools, did return the phone call at a time when the planned questions weren't handy. However, after an introduction was made and the background regarding why there was an interest in interviewing him was made clear, he proceeded to state that he was not the person who could answer the questions regarding what material is filtered from the schools' internet.
"We do filter out all religious material from our computers, " Dr. White did state, "but you'll need to speak with someone else (name withheld until other party can be reached) regarding the details." When asked if ALL religious material is filtered out, he stated, "Yes."
An attempt was made to contact the other party, however, the person who answered stated that the other party was on vacation and wouldn't be able to return a phone call until Monday, November 30th. Hopefully, the questions can be asked and more answers will be revealed at that time.
On a related note, an attempt was made to contact the Freedom From Religion Foundation by phone regarding this issue. However, the person who would need to speak about it was already involved in doing another interview. Reassurance was made that this person would make a return phone call sometime in the next day or two regarding IPS and any further information they may have on this subject.
Once contact has been made with someone from both IPS and FFRF and a complete interview has been conducted. A follow-up article will be written that will include both sides of this story.
