Geithner likely treasury pick; Clinton 'on track'- President-elect Barack Obama intends to name Timothy Geithner, president of the New York Federal Reserve, as his treasury secretary to confront the nation's intense economic turmoil, senior Democratic officials said Friday. The stock market soared on the news. Word of Geithner's likely selection emerged as New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, in line to become secretary of state, said through a spokesman that discussions were on track for her appointment but no final arrangement had been made.
Neb. lawmakers OK age limit for safe-haven law- Gov. Dave Heineman signed into law Friday a bill adding a 30-day age limit to a safe-haven law that allowed 35 children - including teenagers as old as 17 - to be abandoned at state hospitals. The law, approved hours earlier by the Legislature in a 45-3 vote, goes into effect Saturday, and makes Nebraska the 14th state with a 30-day age cap. It had been the only state with a safe-haven law without an age limit.

Germany drops attempt to ban Scientology- Germany is dropping its pursuit of a ban on Scientology after finding insufficient evidence of illegal activity, security officials said Friday. Domestic intelligence services will continue to monitor the group, officials said. The German branch of the Los Angeles-based Church of Scientology has been under observation by domestic intelligence services for more than a decade. Top security officials asked state governments in December to begin gathering information on whether they had sufficient grounds to seek a ban.
Knicks set themselves up for 2010 with 2 deals- The New York Knicks traded Zach Randolph and Jamal Crawford in separate deals Friday, parting with their two top scorers to free up coveted salary-cap space for the summer of 2010. Crawford was sent to Golden State for forward Al Harrington. Hours later, Randolph was shipped to the Los Angeles Clippers along with reserve guard Mardy Collins for Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas.

-- The Airport is distributing "Kids Eat Free" coupons on Thursday,
December 20 and Friday, December 21 between the hours of noon and 2
p.m. for families with kids 12 and under. The "Kids Eat Free" coupon
is good for $5.00 at any of DFW's terminal restaurants.
-- The Airport is distributing parking coupons to travelers, for
$10-a-day Terminal parking, when they arrive at full Remote or Express
parking lots. The Airport expects to distribute 10,000 coupons through
December 24. The coupons may be redeemed for trips that start as late
as January 2, 2008. The Airport is home to more than 40,000 parking
spaces, so ample parking is available on site. More information about
