Medicare Officials Announce Project Targeting Fraudulent Suppliers

HHS is taking further steps to protect seniors and others enrolled in Medicare from sham equipment suppliers. On Monday, July 2, the Department will announce the details of a project to prevent fraudulent suppliers of durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies from taking advantage of beneficiaries and the public.

The new initiative will have immediate effect in two regions of the country where there is a high concentration of suppliers, South Florida and Southern California. Based on the results of the project, it could be expanded nationwide.
