Leading Organizations to Co-Host Symposium on Housing Affordability

National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)

National Education Association (NEA)

WHAT:

For many families around the country it is difficult to find a home that meets their needs at a price they can afford. NAHB, the NAACP and the NEA are co-hosting a symposium that seeks to address one of the most pressing problems facing families today. Participating groups include housing organizations, civil rights groups, labor organizations, business groups, non-profit organizations and representatives of local, state and federal government.

The goal of the symposium is to develop a broad national coalition that understands and voices support for housing issues at the local level, and to compile a tool box of techniques and programs to help a local coalition improve housing affordability.

The symposium covers a range of issues, including:

- Housing Finance

- Government Resources and Requirements

- Zoning and Infrastructure

- People and Markets

Featured speakers include:

- Randall Kroszner, Member, Federal Reserve Board of Governors

- Sheila Bair, Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation

- Brian Montgomery, Federal Housing Commissioner

- Orlando Cabrera, Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for Public Housing
