Distributed by Press Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Map) - Virtex-5 TXT FPGAs Recognized for Serial Connectivity Leadership, ISE Design Suite 10.1 Honored as DesignVision Finalist

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Xilinx (Nasdaq: XLNX) today announced that the Xilinx(R) Virtex(R)-5 TXT FPGA platform was selected by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) for a 2009 DesignVision Award. This is the sixth consecutive year Xilinx has been honored as a winner or finalist in this prestigious, annual awards program, celebrating the design tools and products most unique and beneficial to the semiconductor industry.

In addition to the Xilinx Virtex-5 TXT FPGA platform, which won in the Semiconductor Components and ICs category, Xilinx Virtex-5 FXT and TXT FPGAs for PCI Express(R) version 2.0 and Xilinx ISE(R) Design Suite 10.1 were both named finalists in this year's awards program.

"Both the winners and finalists of the DesignVision Awards certainly exemplify some of the 'brightest minds in electronic design,' which is what we themed this year's event," commented IEC Executive President Roger Plummer. "The IEC's DesignVision Awards recognize top contributions to the design engineering industry. We're pleased to recognize Xilinx as a DesignVision Awards Winner for its Virtex-5 TXT FPGA platform."

"Winning this DesignVision Award further validates the significance of Virtex-5 TXT FPGAs to the market. The Xilinx Virtex-5 TXT FPGAs tackle serial connectivity challenges caused by the explosive growth in Internet traffic for video over IP. As this market expands, so does the need to rapidly scale the world's IP infrastructure, which has a direct impact on IP backbone network capacity and the telecommunications industry as a whole," said Dean Westman, vice president for Xilinx' communications business. "Virtex-5 TXT FPGAs enable ultra high-bandwidth communications on a power-optimized programmable platform. This is a critical step forward and has the potential to accelerate development of the 40-GbE and 100-GbE infrastructure needed to deliver multimedia services."

The Xilinx Virtex-5 TXT FPGA platform is the world's first single-chip FPGA solution optimized for 40-Gigabit Ethernet, 100-Gigabit Ethernet, and other ultra high-bandwidth communication protocol bridging, switching and aggregation applications. This platform takes serial connectivity leadership to the highest level with forty-eight (48) 6.5Gbps multi-gigabit (GTX) transceivers and a more efficient implementation of the industry's first 100-GbE media access controller (MAC). Xilinx 2009 DesignVision Award Finalists

In the IC Design Tool category, the Xilinx ISE Design Suite 10.1 was recognized as a finalist for breakthrough improvements in productivity, performance and power in a single unified release and providing FPGA logic, embedded and DSP designers with immediate access to the company's entire line of design tools with full interoperability.

The Xilinx Virtex-5 FXT FPGA platform is the first 5Gbs FPGA-based solution compliant with version 2.0 of the PCI Express standard and was recognized for this in the Interconnect Technologies and Components category. It is the industry's first FPGA to pass the last round of specification testing at the PCI-SIG(R)'s Compliance Workshop #62.
