CANTON, Mich., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless has activated a new
cell site in Canton that expands network coverage, enabling more customers to
use their wireless phones concurrently to make voice calls; send and receive
email and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view
high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying
clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
The new cell site improves Verizon Wireless' voice and data network
coverage in south Canton, including along Michigan Avenue between Sheldon and
Ridge roads.
"Our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us because we deliver
on our commitment to provide the most reliable network," said Greg Haller,
president-Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky Region, Verizon Wireless. "We'll continue
investing in our network here in Michigan as well as across the nation so that
our customers can rely on their wireless phones everywhere they go."
This new cell site is part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand
coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and
data network in Michigan and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has
invested more than $48 billion since it was formed -- $5.5 billion on average
every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network
and to add new services. More than $1.8 billion of this investment has been
spent in Michigan since 2000. Through the end of third quarter, the company
has invested nearly $83 million in Michigan network improvements.
