News Advisory: Developments in the Children's Health Insurance Debate in House and Senate

WHAT: Center on Budget and Policy Priorities Conference Call WHEN: Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. (ET) Register: http://www.cbpp.org/confcall.htm WHO: -- Edwin Park, Senior Fellow, CBPP -- Robert Greenstein, Executive Director, CBPP The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities will hold a conference call briefing on Wednesday, August 1 at 1:00 p.m. (ET) to discuss the latest developments in the debate over children's health insurance legislation in both the House and Senate. That legislation is now on the Senate floor, and the House version of the bill is expected to come to the House floor on Wednesday.

The briefing will cover a range of issues, including: alternative Congressional proposals that are being put forth such as that developed by Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell; the House Democratic bill as revised to meet budgetary targets; claims that the House bill opens Medicaid to illegal immigrants; and the latest criticisms of the House bill by private insurance plans that participate in the Medicare Advantage program.
