Collectively, the 20 PGA TOUR veterans represent a total 35 wins, led by six- time champion Steve Pate.

As the Bank of America Open tees off at The Glen Club next Thursday, the PGA TOUR will host The Memorial, a tournament whose field consists of only 105 golfers as opposed to a full field of 156. PGA TOUR players not eligible for The Memorial frequently opt to participate in the Bank of America Open not only for the opportunity to compete, but for a chance to win its $135,000 champion purse.

Bank of America also announced the addition of three players to the field via its sponsor exemptions, two of which have strong local ties. Local favorites Gary Hallberg (Berwyn) and Northwestern University alumnus Jess Daley will appear in this year's field as well as former PGA TOUR champion Ian Leggatt.

Hallberg, a native of Berwyn, Ill., will make his final Nationwide Tour appearance at the Bank of America Open as he celebrates his 50th birthday during tournament play (May 31). Upon reaching 50, the three-time PGA TOUR champion will immediately graduate to the Champions Tour. Hallberg returns to the Bank of America Open field after finishing T58 in the 2007 tournament.

Daley has appeared in the last five consecutive Bank of America Open tournaments and recently earned a spot in the PGA TOUR's 2008 U.S. Open qualifier. After receiving All-American accolades at Northwestern, Daley appeared on the PGA TOUR in 2002. His best finish at The Glen Club was T23 in 2005.

Leggatt is the 2002 champion of the PGA TOUR's Tucson Open, a title that helped him place 47th on the money list that year. The Canadian native also serves as the Worldwide Ambassador for Ronald McDonald Children's Charities of Canada.

Earlier this season, exemptions were extended to Madalitso Muthiya of Zambia and Mike Natale of Darien, Ill. who won the April 28 Bank of America Open Amateur Invitational. One sponsor exemption remains and will be announced closer to tournament week.

On Tuesday, May 27 just prior to tournament play, open qualifiers will be held at Bolingbrook Golf Course and Deerfield Golf Club. The top 14 finishers of the 18-hole round will be awarded entry into the Bank of America Open completing the full field of 156 golfers.
