Distributed by Press Release

MUSKEGON, Mich. (Map) - MUSKEGON, Mich., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The wait is over at Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park. Thunderhawk, Michigan's first suspended looping roller coaster opens tomorrow, May 14, bringing Michigan's Adventure's roller coaster count to seven! The Thunderhawk media event begins at 7:30 am on Wednesday morning.

Thunderhawk, climbs 105 feet in the air with an exhilarating 86-foot drop. Riders soar through the air with their feet dangling below them along a winding course that features five inversions and a top speed of 50 mph!

"Our first riders on Thunderhawk will be the high bidders of the American Red Cross auction," said Camille Jourden-Mark, the vice president and general manager of Michigan's Adventure. "These thrill seekers will be the first to experience our amazing new coaster here at Michigan's Adventure." The American Red Cross is receiving all of the proceeds from the auction of the first 40 seats on Thunderhawk. The auction was a unique opportunity for the general public to donate to a very worthy cause and be one of the first to experience Thunderhawk.

Located near RipCord and Adventure Falls, Thunderhawk is a massive steel structure with tubular steel track. It stretches 2,260 feet in length and provides an electrifying ride time of approximately 2 minutes, 15 seconds. Riders are seated in pairs in open seats that are suspended below the track. Each rider is secured with an over-the-shoulder harness and interlocking safety belt. Each of the two trains accommodates 20 riders. Riders must be between 52- and 80-inches tall to ride Thunderhawk. The ride was designed and manufactured by Vekoma International B.V., Vlodrop, The Netherlands. Thunderhawk is the largest single ride expenditure in the history of the park.

Michigan's Adventure boasts more than 60 rides and attractions, including seven roller coasters. Thunderhawk is an amazing steel complement to the park's perennial favorite, Shivering Timbers, a 125-foot-tall wooden coaster. Since it opened in 1998, Shivering Timbers has been consistently ranked as one of the finest wooden roller coasters in the world by Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards. Amusement Today is an international amusement and waterpark publication based in Arlington, Texas.

In 2007, Michigan's Adventure was declared "Attraction of the Year" by Travel Michigan and the Michigan Hotel, Motel & Resort Association.

The summer kicks off tomorrow with Physics Day. More than 3,000 students from Western Michigan are expected to visit the park to apply the lessons they have learned in the classroom. During the day, students will measure the speed, velocity and acceleration of the park's rides.

On Friday evening over 150 roller coaster enthusiasts from around the nation will visit Michigan Adventure for a private event to experience ERT (exclusive ride time) on Thunderhawk, Shivering Timbers and several other rides throughout the park.

The following day Michigan's Adventure will host Rock the Coast, a Christian music festival. Secondhand, Good Luck Varsity, Pete Cornelius Band and The Advent will be performing on the "Day stage" in the afternoon. Main stage artists on the evening of May 17 will include Run Kid Run, Group 1 Crew and Hawk Nelson.

Michigan's Adventure will open for daily operation on Friday, May 23, 2008. Admission to Michigan's Adventure also included admission to WildWater Adventure which opens on May 24.
