Adams Respiratory Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARxT) today announced that both Mucinex(R) (600 mg guaifenesin extended-release bi-layer tablets) and Delsym(R) (dextromethorphan polistirex) brands ranked No. 1 in their respective over-the-counter (OTC) therapeutic categories, in the recently published Pharmacy Times 2007 OTC Survey of Pharmacist Recommendations. According to Pharmacy Times, pharmacists make more than 15 million recommendations every month in the Cough and Cold category alone -- including adult and pediatric formulations.
For the second consecutive year, Mucinex achieved elite status in the Pharmacy Times OTC Master's Circle, which includes products that have earned at least 50 percent of pharmacists' recommendations in the OTC Recommendation Survey. In the adult expectorant category, Mucinex was rated No. 1, with 62.6 percent of pharmacist recommendations.
In its first year of marketing under Adams' ownership, Delsym ranked No. 1 in the Children's Cough category with 34.3 percent of pharmacist recommendations. In the adult cough category, Delsym and Mucinex ranked No. 1 and 3, with 41.4 percent and 18.1 percent of pharmacist recommendations, respectively.
