WASHINGTON, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressional Quarterly Inc., the nation's premier provider of news and analysis on Congress, politics and public policy, today announced it will present the CQ Forum on Housing and Energy on January 29 at the Hyatt Regency Washington from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Senator Tom Carper (D-DE) will deliver the keynote, and is expected to share his insights on energy efficiency and legislation pending before the Senate. He will also share thoughts on energy policy in President Bush's final State of the Union speech (which will be delivered to Congress the tonight). The forum will be sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Senator Carper is a deputy whip, and is serving his second term in the Senate. He serves on several committees, including the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee and the Environment & Public Works Committee; and he chairs several subcommittees, including Banking's Subcommittee on Economic Policy and EPW's Clean Air and Nuclear Safety Subcommittee.

"Access to affordable energy has made the American standard of living the envy of the world," said Martina Hone, CQ's executive director of events. "But concerns about global energy supplies and the environment have renewed the national focus on energy efficiency and conservation. This forum will focus on practical ways homeowners and home builders can work together so we can live more energy efficient lives. We're pleased that the NAHB has stepped to the plate to sponsor this opportunity to examine the issues and solutions in depth."

CQ has assembled a diverse panel of public and private industry stakeholders to discuss the role home builders, home owners and others play in the global energy challenge; and the costs, benefits and tradeoffs we all face.

CQ's Martina Hone will moderate the discussion. Participants include:

-- Bob Jones, National Association of Home Builders

-- John Libonati, Owens Corning

-- Adrian P. Chapman, Washington Gas

-- David Goldstein, Natural Resources Defense Council

-- Joseph Molinaro, National Association of Realtors
