Spooktacular events at Raccoon State Recreation Area Oct. 23-24, 2009

Raccoon State Recreation Area will celebrate it's annual Halloween events Oct. 23-24

 
Friday 
Raccowl Scavenger Hunt, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Search for the eggs of this mysterious creature to find what they hold!
 
Saturday
Ghastly Goop & Such, from Noon to 3 p.m. Pumpkin carving contest, face painting & Halloween crafts.
Pumpkin carving judging from 3:30 to 4 p.m., costume contest/judging from 4 - 5 p.m. There’s a new pet category this year.
Trick or Treating at the campground, 5 - 7 p.m. This event is open to the public.
Award Ceremony, from 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. You must be present to win.
Hayrides, from 8 to 10 p.m. Cost is $2 per person.
 
Visitors do not have to be camping to participate in any of the activities. All activities are free with the exception of hayrides ($2 per person). Donations will be accepted to offset the cost of prizes and decorations. Standard daily weekend entrance fees of $5 for in-state vehicles and $7 for out-of-state vehicles will be charged. Raccoon State Recreation area is located on U.S. Hwy. 36 in Parke and Putnam counties in west central Indiana, 50 miles west of Indianapolis and 35 miles northeast of Terre Haute.
