REI (Recreation Equipment, Inc) is celebrating its newest Pittsburgh area store at Settlers Ridge with grand opening festivities Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 22.
The first 200 people (ages 12 and older) who visit the store each day will receive a commemorative water bottle with an REI gift card ranging from $5 to $100. The Settlers Ridge location opens at 9 a.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
A complimentary breakfast will be available one hour before the store opens for early birds. The store is located off of Parkway West at Ridge and Campbells Run Roads.
Will Cross, world-class climber and motivational speaker will present a slideshow at 7 p.m. on Saturday, on his ascents of the highest peaks on seven continents, North and South Poles excursions, and other expeditions.
At 3 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday, November Jane Kirkland, the best-selling author of Take a Walk Books, will share a photo presentation about her wildlife experiences. A book signing with Kirkland will follow.
REI members and customers may enter for a chance to win various prize packages throughout the weekend, including a:
- Camping and Backpacking Package for Two – featuring the REI Half Dome Tent and other REI gear.
- Travel Package for Two – featuring REI Inside Passage and REI Stratocruiser Luggage.
- Snowshoeing Package for Two – featuring two pairs of Atlas Snowshoes and REI UL Trekking Poles.
The Settlers Ridge location is 26,000 square foot, two stories and offers brands for camping, climbing, cycling, fitness, hiking, paddling, snow sports and travel, including its own line of REI gear and apparel. Following the grand opening weekend, The Settlers Ridge store will offer numerous in-store classes and REI-supported events including “how to” workshops, bike maintenance clinics and volunteer activities.
