Area listeners to independently owned Lightning 100 radio in Nashville, have no doubt heard public service announcements sprinkled into the mix of adult indie music promoting "Team Green."
In 2009, Team Green lead more than 300 events and sponsored or partnered with more than 50 local organizations sharing a similar mission to get people active and involved in protecting the environment.
It was the mission of Founder and former Director, Laurel Creech, to create a group to help others stay healthy while connecting to the environment.
"When I graduated from college, I created an avenue to get people active in the outdoors, experiencing new challenges in a social setting and having a good time doing it."
In April of this year, Creech left for a position in the Nashville Mayor's Office leaving some big hiking boots to fill. Current Team Green Director, Keeley Reed, works to ensure that group doesn't miss a step with a calendar full of diverse offerings of outdoor and community activities.
"Hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, horseback riding, white water rafting, sailing, scuba diving, running, yoga, kayaking, concerts, hang gliding, surfing, mountain biking, caving...you name it! If the even promotes health, fitness, community service, and a symbiotic relationship with our natural environment, we are open to it."

For those looking to join in on the Team Green adventure, Reed provides information about membership.
"Almost all of our pre-organized events are open to both members and non-members. Team Green members enjoy the added benefit of a discount on trips compared to the non-member price, and can register for our most popular events weeks or even months before non-members. Some events are only open to members."
