Ziploc Flexible Totes for storage

Ziploc Flexible Totes packaging

It is not news that Ziploc can help us get organized. Those trusty Ziploc bags are great for everything from packing lunches to storing Halloween costumes to flying with our 3oz bottles. Ziploc did it again! They wow’d me. I love products. I always have…that was evident as a child when my Christmas list was 2 pages, greedy maybe, but I love products. My love affair with products continued into my adulthood when I began to work in marketing developing new products. Anyone who works in new product development will tell you there is a rush you get when you see a product you created on the shelf at a store like Target…it feels great. So now as a professional organizer I love to find and use new products in my own home and with clients.

Ziploc Flexible Tote filled with throw pillows

My latest find is from Ziploc – the Flexible Tote. The Flexible Tote is just that…a zippered rectangular tote that is transparent, secure and flexible for easy storage of just about anything. The XL size is 16”x13”x10.9”. I tested this tote in my home on various items and found it to be perfect for many items – here are my favorites: table linens, towels, throw pillows, bed linens, summer shoes (i.e. flip flops), stuffed animals, bows for gift wrapping, etc. I have to admit there was one thing that frustrated me about this item – it was not wide enough to fit two stacks of folded clothes (such as two side by side stacks of t-shirts or sweaters) but it was too wide for just one stack of clothes. But the pros of this product outweigh this one con.

We’ve established that the tote is flexible and you can be flexible as to what you put in the tote but you can also be flexible as to where and how you use it. Unlike most rigid plastic bins this is ideal for someone who moves frequently, someone who lives in a small apartment or keeps kids sports equipments and toys in the trunk of their car. These would be ideal for college students moving every 3-9 months. Also these would be great to use for storing and transporting newspapers for recycling. This list could go on and on.

The handle of the Ziploc Flexible Tote

My favorite feature of the Flexible Tote is the handles. The handles on each side are easy to hold and they lift out, they do not push into the storage container as would have been the “easy” way out for the designers at Ziploc. And unlike a plastic bin where you have to carry the bin with your finger tips, you can use your entire hand to safely carry the tote. They really thought through the handles…way to go Ziploc.

I love doing product reviews where I find a product I LOVE and get to share it with you. You can buy the Ziploc Flexible Tote at Kmart, Target or Home Depot for a national average retail price of $6.99 (for the XL size I described above).

What would you store in a flexible, durable, easy to carry, stackable and lightweight storage tote?
