Some of the best New Year’s Eves I’ve enjoyed weren't spent partying at a night club; they were spent at home with family. Good food, snacks, warm non-alcoholic beverages, games, and old movies...and before we knew it, it was time to sing Auld Lang Syne.

This year, we’ll skip the games, but not the old movie. While we munch stovetop-made organic popcorn (with a little Himalayan salt sprinkled on it), and sip heated Chocolate Almond Milk (laced with a homemade marshmallow or two), we’ll watch “Bachelor Mother,” a favorite oldie that pairs Ginger Rogers and David Niven. Both Ginger and David tickle the funnybone again and again as we enjoy watching their clumsy early relationship grow into love (though it's doubtful they'll get that far). It's the perfect New Year's Eve movie. Because he can't get another date, he asks Ginger to celebrate with him and his friends (he even provides her with fancy duds). They're funny together, and their riotous antics make for good viewing.

As for singing Auld Lang Syne…probably not this year. But we’ll watch as the ball drops on Times Square, signaling the start of a new year and a new decade.
