Senate Democrats kill Bunning amendment to view healthcare bill before voting

Sen. John Kerry (D-MA)

In a move consistent with their utter contempt for the opinions of the general public Senate Democrats on the Finance Committee killed an amendment to Sen. Baucus's (D-MT) healthcare bill that would require the bill to be "scored" and posted on the internet for a minimum of 72 hours prior to being voted on.  The amendment was introduced by Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY).  The vote was entirely on party lines, demonstrating once again that the party of Marx is completely out of touch with the overwhelming public sentiment calling for the rush to reform to slow down and ensure that the reforms sought are actually done right, as opposed to simply appeasing President Obama's Marxist allies.

In typical arrogant and aloof fashion, Democrat Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich) and John Kerry (D-Mass) demonstrated once again their disdain for the average American and their opinion that political elites alone know what is best for America.  Their remarks reveal that the haughty elite do not believe that average Americans are neither capable of making important decisions by themselves nor of assessing crucial and complex information, and that the elites ought to make such decisions for them, coddling and coercing us through the power of the State.

Said Stabenow:  "Reading this bill will only confuse peple."

Said Kerry:  “Let’s be honest about it, most people don’t read the legislative language.”  He added that, in his opinion, the move to "score"  the bill and post it on the internet for 72 hours so that the people could read it and contact their Senators with their opinions was merely a GOP "delay tactic" to avoid passing any "real reform."

Do recall Rep. John Conyers mocking rebuttal to those who only ask that Congressmen and Senators actually read the bills before they vote on them: "What good is reading it when it's 1,000 pages long and you need two days and two lawyers to tell you what it means after you've read it?"

Perhaps Mr. Conyers and Sens. Kerry and Stabenow are too arrogant to see the obvious fact that maybe there are too many lawyers inserting too much "legalese" into legislation.  Perhaps they are so far removed from the lives of everyday Americans so elitist in their attitudes that they cannot comprehend writing legislation in plain English to say what it means and mean what it says because the people would more easily understand it.

Whatever their reasoning, one thing is clear:  these Democrats and some of their minions across the aisle openly prefer secrecy to transparency, and overwhelming the system with  legislathe legislation actuallytion too massive in size and sweeping in scope to see through immediately.  They prefer to rush such legislation through into law as quickly as possble, so that opponents of their agenda will not have the time to see how radical and harmful the legislation really is - and once passed into law, such things could well be impossible to undo.  It is becoming evident that what they want is a people too overwhelmed to stop the Marxist transformation of our country.  Cloward and Piven would be proud.
