There has been much said lately about those people who have been protesting our out of control Federal government. The state-sanctioned media have been labeling us racists, as rednecks, as domestic terrorists, inherently dangerous to the safety of our neighbors because of our supposedly extremist and “fringe” beliefs. If fact, the only thing we threaten by raising our voices and demanding that the Constitution be strictly adhered to is an ongoing revolution that promotes principles and values far more akin to those espoused by Marx and Lenin than anything ever proposed by the Founders of this republic. As we perceive it, it is they who threaten us.
This begs the questions: what, exactly is it that these people believe that makes them “extremist” or “fringe” or “dangerous?” Are there some who are kooks? Yes there are – and there are plenty of dangerous left-wing extremists as well. You will recall that a pro-life protester was recently killed by a pro-abortion activist. As those on the other side would claim, such people are a minority of their movement, and the same holds true with those of us who oppose any further expansion of government. And while I cannot, of course, speak for everyone who is concerned to the point of protesting this out of control government, nor for all those factions that make up this patriot movement, what I can do is tell you what I believe, as I tend to think of myself as typical of those individuals who collectively form this movement.
Fundamentally I believe in Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, and I believe that these Natural Rights are given to us by God – not by the State. Therefore the State has no authority to either encroach upon them or to take them away.
I believe that both major political parties are rife with corruption, arrogance and indifference to the people who elect them.
I believe in the inviolable sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. I believe in the God given right –and duty- to defend my life and the lives of those around me.
I absolutely and unashamedly believe in the right to keep and bear arms as an inviolable individual right for those of us who chose to do so. I believe that the 2nd Amendment isn’t just about hunting. I think we ought to be enforcing the gun laws currently on the books before Washington starts talking about passing more restrictive ones. I think a lot of people in Washington – and elsewhere- need to understand the fact that criminals are criminals because they choose not to obey laws, and they treat gun laws exactly the same as they treat laws against breaking into peoples homes and cars.
I believe in Liberty. I believe we live in a republic rooted in law, not in the cult of personality. I believe that in such a republic the true power is vested in the people and that the Federal government exists at the good pleasure of the people and the states – and the oftentimes the Federal government needs to be reminded of that. I believe in the principles of limited government: that the government that governs least governs best.

I believe that no voice should be silenced because it disagrees with any governmental policy, and that religious beliefs should not suffer duress from government coercion, nor should religion be intentionally used by government to vilify or divide people. I am at present far more concerned with the separation of the media and state, and firmly oppose any government imposed restriction on privately run radio or TV stations for any reason – including “localism,” “diversity,” or “fairness”. The people decide what they want to watch or listen to – that is fairness.
I believe we have the right to be secure in our persons and our homes, and that unless a warrant is produced, no one has any business demanding our personal information, intercepting our emails or listening to our telephone conversations – most especially NOT the Federal government.
I believe that the Federal government is limited by the Constitution to 18 specific powers as defined in Article I, Section 8, and that all other rights, duties and privileges are reserved to the states and to the people under the 9th and 10th Amendments. I believe that the Federal government has no authority to run banks, to arbitrarily abrogate contracts and take over car companies, to squander the prosperity of our children on so. I believe that the Federal government has no authority to operate “public-private partnerships” like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, and the current housing debacle proves that point. I believe that the Federal government ought to address the situation on our southern border before they wage war overseas. I believe the Congress has no Constitutional authority to legislate a Cap-and-Trade bill that will force energy rates to skyrocket and dictate the amount of energy individual households are allowed to use. I believe that the Federal government has absolutely no Constitutional authority to require a Federal home inspection for green-energy compliance prior to being allowed to sell your home, as this Cap-and-Trade bill would require.
I believe that the Federal Reserve needs to be audited and abolished, and that neither they nor Congress have the authority to dictate salary or bonus limits to any private business. I believe that The Fed needs to be called to task for monetizing our increasing debt, and that these ongoing policies are dangerously devaluing our currency. I believe that inflationary monetary policy (so-called “easy money”) and high-ratio fractional banking practices have contributed greatly to our current financial crisis and that these practices need to be abolished and our currency made sound. I believe that the ongoing practice of “withholding” of taxes by the IRS needs to be abolished along with the IRS, and that if every American had to sit down and write a check to Uncle Sam every April 15, we wouldn’t have an out of control Federal government and arrogant “representatives” who ignore those who elect them but would rather pander to party hacks and special interests.
I believe in equality of opportunity for all, not in equality of outcome for some.
I believe that the Federal government must be accountable to the people who give their consent to be governed – if not, that people is not nearly as free as they think. I believe that our nation is in a struggle for its very soul right now, and that we are living in very perilous times. The balance of power has been gradually shifting from being vested in the people to the Federal government, and this has been going on for decades. Over the last several years it has accelerated and now under the present Administration and Congress we are being told that the Constitution is an inherently “flawed document.”(By the way, the President expressed this belief in writing a thesis paper that he did not allow to be released until just recently.)
What is happening in this country now, I believe, is a revolution. It’s not entirely new, as we all know there have been career politicians of whatever branch and of both major parties that have strayed far from the model constitutional republic established by the Founders. The revolutionary aspect of what is happening is seen vividly in the key policy initiatives of this Administration and Congress, and most strikingly in how this Administration and Congress chooses to advance those key initiatives: behind the scenes amid much distraction, and under cover of darkness. They bury crucial details in thousands of pages of legislation. They rush through thousand-plus page bills that no one has time to read before voting on. Has anyone asked: if the members of Congress –even Democrats- haven’t read these bills, then do they even know who is writing them? Are the nations laws now being written groups like the Apollo Alliance, where Weather Underground founder Jeff Jones sits on the board; or the SEIU, or the now exposed and disgraced ACORN?
Have you noticed how many key appointments have not yet been filled, but there are over 40 “czars” “advising” the President? Does anyone doubt that this is entirely to circumvent the vetting process required for Senate confirmation? Does anyone question if this was done to avoid Congressional oversight and simply make the Congress – and thereby our vote – wholly irrelevant? Has anyone considered that this could be because the average American’s outlook or opinion on government is likely viewed as “flawed” by this Administration? Is there any question as to why nearly all of these “czars” are self-proclaimed communists, socialists and radicals – the same types of people this President has been surrounding himself with for his entire life?
That which has been in the making for many years and is now being executed outside the boundaries of the Constitutionally mandated oversight of Congress by “advisors” given real power to transform this nation is the revolution. Congressional overreaching into areas prohibited it under the Constitution is the revolution. The partnership of radical organizations that have put into power people who have vowed to fundamentally transform the United States of America is the revolution.

We, however, are the counterrevolution. We know where the Democrat Party has chosen to go since Howard Dean became chairman. They went to Marx. We also know that the Republican Party has lost its way and is not far behind the Democrats, having become the party of compromise and acquiescence. So how do we help it find it’s way back to the principles it purports to represent? How do we break the back of this anti-Constitution revolution? We don’t elect career politicians – we elect people like us. We think outside the box – just like our President and his revolutionary radicals have- and we snatch our country back from the brink of falling into the abyss of an authoritarian socialism. We reclaim the mantle of liberty from the supposed leaders of the party that acquiesced to bring us to this place. And we make no compromises. All or nothing. John McCain was a compromise that did not work out so well.
The radical revolutionaries in the White House and their minions on Capitol Hill share a vision of remaking this country, or transforming this country –their words, not mine- into something completely different. You and I know what that means. It means God being further marginalized from the public discourse; it means more Federal encroachment if not a dictatorial administration of the various states and their business; it means more spending; it means more intrusion into our privacy; it means an end to talk radio and conservative TV programming; it means the usurpation of our rights; it means tyranny.
So here is the thing to ponder: they are playing for broke – all or nothing. Right now we are on the defense, and no one has even won a war on defense alone. Only one side can win. If we win, we remain a free people by forcing a return to the principles upon which this republic was founded and we all prosper. If we lose, we become transformed into something far different than we have even known in this country. I don’t know exactly what that would be, and I don’t want to find out. This patriot movement is a counterrevolution, and we must strive to win. If we don’t win, we lose, and our children lose their future. Remember: only one side will win.
