  The so-called status quo (insurance companies) bankrupts millions of Americans. Current health proposals include savings in Medicare, which will not be cut. Cutting out fraud, abuse, waste, and inefficiency is proposed. No legislation currently in Congress would mandate the rationing of care. No provisions in these bills would ration care. No provision promotes euthanasia of any kind. Medicare does not cover counseling for end-of-life care, the bill would simply provide coverage for optional end-of-life consultations with doctors. It is not mandatory. Social security and Medicare are responsible for the health and well being of everyone who has worked their entire lives. Without these programs millions of elderly US citizens could lose their homes, not be able to buy food, have zero health coverage, and not afford care during their weakest days. The cash for clunkers has proven to be effective, so far
